UAB CENTER FOR METABOLIC BONE DISEASE – NIH/NIAMS T32 TRAINING GRANT

The Center for Metabolic Bone Disease is pleased to announce the availability of three postdoctoral positions for either basic research in bone biology and disease, or clinical research in bone disease.

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Citizenship:  Must be a citizen or noncitizen national of the United States or must have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence (i.e., in possession of a currently valid Alien Registration Receipt Card I-551, or some other legal verification of such status). 
  • Trainees:  Must have received a PhD, MD, DDS, MD/PhD, or comparable doctoral degree from an accredited domestic or foreign institution.

Requirements and Information Necessary in Applying for these Postdoctoral Slots

NIH T32 Institutional Training Grant:
Comprehensive Training Grant in Bone Biology and Disease
Program Director:  Jay M. McDonald, M.D.
Deadline for Applications:  Friday, August 14, 2009

Below are the requirements and documents needed from postdoctoral applicants applying for these open slots on the NIH T32 Institutional Training Grant:  Comprehensive Training Grant in Bone Biology and Disease. 

  1. Applicants must be a citizen or noncitizen national of the U.S. or must have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence (i.e., in possession of a currently valid Alien Registration Receipt Card I-551, or some other legal verification of such status).
  2. A short document (no more than two pages written by the applicant), including a title, describing the bone-related project that the applicant will work on if awarded a slot.
  3. CV of the applicant.
  4. A 4-page NIH biographical sketch of the Mentor. Also, a review of the training experience of the Mentor must be included (e.g., a review of the Mentor’s trainees for the last five years, including the current year).
  5. A support letter from the applicant’s Mentor addressed to Jay M. McDonald, M.D.

 

Submitted applications will be reviewed by the Training Grant Advisory Committee and all applicants will be notified as to the decision. 

Awardees will receive:

  • A stipend (postdoctoral awardees receive the current NIH postdoctoral stipend amount based on the awardee’s experience);
  • Health insurance;

 

  • Travel allotment; and
  • Training-related expense monies.
